The Church: A Bold Mission

Is your personal mission more important than God’s mission? In Matthew 28, Jesus gives clear instruction that as his church, we’re called to go, make disciples, and teach people the gospel. In this installment of our series of talks, “The Church,” Pastor Rich Wilkerson Jr. speaks to us about the bold mission we've been given. Regardless of what we do to make a living, we're called to live a life for God.

Completely Calm

When the waters of life get rough, how do you respond? Often our response is determined by where our dependency lies. In the wake of Hurricane Matthew, Pastor Rich reminds us that the power of Christ is revealed in life’s storms. Every problem we face is an opportunity for God to show up in a marvelous way. 

The Church: A Building

As we dive further in our collection of talks “The Church,” Pastor DawnCheré describes another metaphor used to describe the church: a building. Today’s message teaches us that Jesus is the cornerstone that God is building his church upon. We are living stones, placed by God, to build his church. Only by laying down our lives on the cornerstone, will there be a strong foundation to sustain God's vision of our lives and his church.

The Church: A Body

Pastor Rich Wilkerson Jr. speaks on why we, as a church, are called the body of Christ. He lists three major reasons: every part serves a function in the body, every part is connected to each other, and every part submits to the head! God designed all of us uniquely for a specific purpose, and even though we all have different talents, they are all equally important for the glory of God. If one is rejoicing or suffering, then we all are rejoicing or suffering. As a body, we glorify God together, and as a body, we submit to our head Jesus Christ together.

The Church: A Bride

Most of us think that church is something that we do, a place that we only go to on Sundays. Some of us even love Jesus but are not so sure about church or church people. Today, Pastor Rich Wilkerson Jr. explains how WE are the living stones laid upon one another to be The Church. We’ll learn its true purpose and specifically why Jesus refers to the church as a bride.

A Divine Appointment

Have you ever found yourself in the midst of a divine appointment? Pastor Rich Wilkerson details the key identifiers of a divine appointment with God in Acts 8:26-40. In it, we learn that when your ordinary life collides with God’s extraordinary plans, your life is changed forever. Just like Philip was sent away from Samaria to change a man’s life, so are we the ones God is looking for to change the lives of those around us. 

Think Big

As we celebrate our one year anniversary as a church, Pastors Rich and DawnCheré come together to encourage us with the message to Think Big, and to prepare us for what the future will bring! Together, they discuss three key areas in which we're being called to be big as we approach year two: Having big faith for a big God, making a big sacrifice for a big harvest, and having a big heart for a big family.

Make Space

If you've got something left, God can do something more. As VOUS Church approaches its first-year anniversary, Pastor Rich reminds us that the ingredients for the miracle we need is often found in our own hands. What do you have? give it to God today, make it available to Him and you'll be in awe of what He'll do with it. 

The Book of James: The Prayer of Faith

What really drives a prayer of faith? Is it the moments of devastation or even those of desperation? While devastation and desperation are certainly urgent moments to pray, they are not exactly the best motivators for developing a prayer of faith. Pastor Rich points us to a better way, a prayer of dedication. 

Book of James: The Elusive Nature of Joy

Special guest Erwin McManus from Mosaic LA speaks to us today on the book of James 1:2-6. He reminds us to be joyful during life's trials in order to gain perseverance. This perseverance will make you whole, mature and complete where you're not lacking anything. He encourages us not to pretend to have joy but instead letting it be a true joy that erupts in the midst of trials so our faith is made stronger.
